Sixth Sunday of Easter

Sixth Sunday of Easter

Introduction –

This week’s scriptures draw us to a God who meets people right where they are—those who are searching, those who are struggling, and those who are trying to live faithfully in a complicated world. We hear a call to hope that endures, a reminder that love is shown in action, and a promise that God’s own Spirit continues to accompany us with wisdom and courage.

This week we gather as people held by that promise: that Christ’s love continues to guide, strengthen, and accompany us. May our worship open us to the Spirit’s quiet work among us and prepare our hearts for the message Pastor Steve will share.

Introduction to the readings

Jesus does not abandon his followers. Through the Holy Spirit, Jesus comes to abide with his disciples of every generation. As Pentecost draws near, we are reminded that the risen Christ dwells in us as the Spirit of truth. We receive this Spirit in baptism and pray that in our gathering around the Lord’s table the Spirit will transform us to be the body of the risen Christ in the world.
