Sermon Introduction –
In our gospel reading, we are going to hear a common story from the Bible: the disciples get angry at people who are different from them. In this case, their anger is directed at the Samaritans. Yet, God calls us to welcome and love all people! What does Jesus have to teach us about belonging?
Introduction to this week’s readings –
We have no good apart from God. That makes Jesus’ call to follow him an invitation to freedom. This is freedom to revel in the Spirit’s fruit: love, joy, peace, and patience. This is freedom to not be imprisoned by anything that would keep us from the fullness of the life God has given us. This is the path of life.
