Seventh Sunday of Pentecost

Seventh Sunday of Pentecost

Introduction to this week –

This week’s readings draw us into the quiet, steady work of God—work that often begins small, hidden, or fragile, yet grows into something life giving and enduring. Isaiah reminds us that God’s word is as faithful as rain, accomplishing its purpose and bringing forth new growth.

Paul echoes this promise, assuring us that life in the Spirit frees us from the weight of condemnation and roots us in a new way of living—one shaped by peace, hope, and the quiet transformation God works within us.

And in Matthew’s parable of the sower, Jesus names the many conditions of the human heart. Some days we feel like rocky soil or thorny ground; other days we discover that God’s word has taken root in us more deeply than we realized. Yet the sower keeps sowing generously, trusting that even imperfect soil can bear surprising fruit.

As we gather this Sunday, we come as we are—carrying our joys, our worries, our questions—and trusting that God is already at work within us. You are warmly invited to worship with us as we listen, pray, and grow together in faith.

Introduction to our readings –

God’s word is like the rain that waters the earth and brings forth vegetation. It is also like the sower who scatters seed indiscriminately. Our lives are like seeds sown in the earth. Even from what appears to be little, dormant, or dead, God promises a harvest. At the Lord’s table we are fed with the bread of life, that we may bear fruit in the world.
