Sermon Introduction –
Jesus told the disciples that it was good that he leave them because he was sending the Holy Spirit. As believers it is easy to picture Jesus who walked the earth and died for us on the cross. We can understand and appreciate a loving Father who delights in us. But few seem to fully understand the third leg of the Trinity—the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is described as “Parakletos”–One called alongside, a counselor, a comforter, and an encourager. The Holy Spirit lives within us, prompting us to faith and bringing us to awareness of our relationship as a child of God. The Spirit helps us pray, guides our path, and helps develop the gifts of the Spirt that make us more and more like Christ. So is it no wonder that we pray, “Come Holy Spirit.
