Virtual Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk/Run

Virtual Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk/Run

Join us for a virtual walk/run to celebrate the progress we’ve made in fighting pancreatic cancer and the hope we have for the future! The event takes place February 14, 2021

Linda fought a brave battle with pancreatic cancer starting in the fall of 2013. She underwent excruciating chemo therapy to prepare for surgery. She received the best care possible through UCLA and following surgery was clear of cancer. Within a year her routine check ups and scans revealed two new tumors. With the aid of trials at UCLA those tumors were arrested. However, we learned the cancer had metastasized to her brain. This seemed inconceivable since the brain is so far removed from the pancreas. Despite treatment, the cancer finally consumed  her in 2017.

Please join New Hope Lutheran Church in the fight against pancreatic cancer in the memory of our church family members Linda LaVanne, Jarvis Streeter, Jean Bouche, Karen Gustafson, Carole Beauchemin and with prayers for Nick O’Hare who is cancer free.

You can walk with us virtually on February 14th in support of the Westlake Village Virtual Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk/Run to celebrate the progress we’ve made in fighting pancreatic cancer and the hope we have for the future!  If you are unable to walk with us, please consider making a donation to support our team. Walk When You Want, Walk Where You Want!

COVID precautions mean we can’t walk in mass, but it also means your walk begins when you’re ready to start! Head into your neighborhood or local park with your team while staying safe. Or, get creative and climb stairs or walk laps around your yard. You choose your walk, but you are still walking in solidarity with hundreds of your neighbors in support of those whose lives have been touched by pancreatic cancer!
